Fiona Benson was born in Wroughton in 1978 and began keeping a poetry notebook at 17. Suddenly, she has said, poetry ‘seemed permissible and possible’. She discovered Seamus Heaney, Sylvia Plath and Emily Dickinson at this time, and dedicated herself to her craft. In 2006 Benson won an Eric Gregory Award and a Faber New Poets Award. Her collection Bright Travellers came out from Jonathan Cape in 2014.
